What with the volcanics causing havoc for those trying to explore, Sunlight, Depths, and Comet decided to see if there was something they could do about it. They didn't necessarily want to hurt the volcanics - despite their challenges of the newcomers - but as Sunlight held a net and looked up at the massive, spiked creature in front of them, xe found that it seemed entirely inadequate.

The volcanic snarled a challenge and gouged the ground with its long, sharp claws, webbing flexing between its limbs.

"Uh," Comet said, shock stick coiled in xir tail, "anyone else think that we might need some backup?"

Depths, not taking his eyes off of the volcanic, shook his head. "We don't need to defeat them," he murmured, "just lead them into a trap."

"Signing up for bait is one thing back home, another thing entirely here," Sunlight hissed, resisting the urge to back up. Still, xe had signed up for it… xe swallowed and stood xir ground.

Depths glanced at xe and Comet, nodded, and they nodded back. Time to begin… Depths stepped forwards and hollered a challenge at the volcanic, who shrieked back, sound filling the tunnel and reverberating off the walls.

Comet squiggled forwards and jabbed the shock stick at the volcanic, causing it to rear back and take a swipe at the draconic with one massive paw - a swipe that missed, thankfully, while Sunlight tried to wrap its legs with xir net. Depths did his best to keep the volcanic's attention, but it quickly recovered and swept its tail around, forcing the smaller beings back to standing at a distance.

It lunged, fast, far faster than a creature that size should move, and snatched the shock stick from Comet. Comet yelped and retreated, and the three stared with horror as the volcanic snapped the stick in its jaws. The pieces clattered to the floor, pinging against the volcanic stone of the lava tunnel that made up this cave. The orange glow of the lava lent an eerie light to the scene, looming volcanic backlit and the colonists waverying before it. Claw marks covered the walls and floor, gouged into the pumice and obsidian as the volcanics walked… and attacked.

"Now?!" Comet yelled, and Depths shook his head. Sunlight watched as the volcanic tore the net off its body with barely any effort.

"How about now?!"

"Alright!" Depths agreed, and the three took off running.

The volcanic roared behind them, furious at being cheated from a fair fight. It lunged after the three, remains of the net being broken by the sheer strength as it moved. The tunnel floor shook as it chased them, Depths leading the way as Sunlight and Comet followed. They lead it through the tunnels, anger driving the massive volcanic until - there.

They ran over a patch of floor they had prepared, strong enough to take the weight of the three of them, but not the volcanic.

With a crash and a scream of rage, it fell through the floor and into the pit below. There were not spikes - they weren't monsters - but it was deep enough it would take the volcanic a while to get out. Not taking any chances, the three exchanged glances, panting for breath.

"Let's get out of here." Before it gets out.
